Lyza prepares to accompany Lieutenant Keene and her squadron on humanity’s first expedition into Heaven. After gathering her equipment and making final preparations, she heads toward Union Station, the designated rendezvous point.
On the way, she is stopped by a police officer. After presenting her Lockheed Martin identification badge, she is permitted to enter the restricted area surrounding the station.
Upon arriving, Lyza quickly realizes that Keene and her soldiers are nowhere to be found. As she searches the station, she begins suffering from an intense headache. The lights around her become painfully bright, forcing her to squint her eyes. Unaware of what is happening, she continues going deeper into the building and unknowingly crosses the threshold into Heaven.
Inside, she encounters two startled soldiers. When questioned about Lieutenant Keene’s whereabouts, they nervously inform her that Keene has already gone inside. Following their directions, Lyza enters the building and discovers that its interior resembles an old museum.
Ahead of her are three doors: one sealed shut, with heavy stomping echoing from behind it; one standing completely open; and a third that has been violently broken down.
Drawing her pistol, Lyza cautiously enters through the shattered doorway.
Inside, she hears someone crying out for help from below. Following the sound, she discovers a ladder leading into a basement.
“The ladder descends into what appears to be a basement converted into a makeshift dormitory. Nearly a dozen people linger below, while four others restrain a bloody and badly beaten soldier. One woman covers the soldier’s mouth to silence him. As Lyza enters, every eye turns toward her. The room falls deathly silent.”
Keeping her weapon trained on the group, Lyza silently motions for them to step away from the soldier. None of them move.
.
Finally, she shouts for them to identify themselves and release him. To which they reply

“We are touched by Heaven,” one of them calmly replies. “Aren’t you?”

After intimidating the group into compliance, they reluctantly back away, warning her only that,
“The Guardian won’t like this.”
Lyza retrieves the wounded soldier and escorts him upstairs. As she attempts to leave, a distant chorus begins to echo throughout the halls.

Before she can escape, an angel appears behind her and begins speaking with her, his voice a medley of voices.
The angel politely asks Lyza to leave the soldier in its care. Suspicious, Lyza questions the being, and tells the angel to not kill the soldier, but the angel reassures her by healing the soldier’s injuries rapidly.
Conflicted, Lyza asks the soldier whether he wishes to stay or leave. Though clearly under some form of mind control, the soldier chooses to remain.
Immediately after, Lieutenant Keene arrives with her troops. Without hesitation, she orders her troops to open fire on the angel.
The soldiers unleash a volley of gunfire. The angel staggers, bleeding golden blood, before waving his hand and instantly dazing and stunning the human soldiers.
Realizing they are outmatched, Lyza orders Keene’s men to retreat and begins pulling the incapacitated soldiers back to reality. Together, they manage to escape Heaven.
Once outside, Keene angrily confronts Lyza.
“You do not tell me how to do my damn job. I don’t care what sort of position you’re in. That thing in there took Robbie, and you let it take Aden.”
.
After a heated exchange, Lyza succeeds in defusing the situation. The two give each other a report on what they experienced inside Heaven and lyza manages to convince keene to work with her together in the future regarding heaven.
Shortly afterward, the band members arrive. Disguising themselves as government agents, they successfully bluff their way into Union Station, allowing Lyza and Keene to depart.
Once they are safely away from the station, Keene proposes opening access to Heaven to carefully selected mortals who may wish to enter. Lyza agrees, and the two part ways to begin organizing the next phase of the operation.
